Where to bring hazardous waste?
All hazardous household waste is accepted free of charge at waste stations, the hazardous waste collection points found in some municipalities and by the eco campaign collection vehicles that tour the municipalities in spring to collect hazardous waste.
You can recognise hazardous waste by the red and white triangle label found on packaging or, in older packaging, by the square orange warning label featuring a black symbol such as a skull or flames. Some batteries are labelled with a crossed-out waste bin symbol. However, not all hazardous waste are indicated on the packaging.
Examples of hazardous household waste:
- waste oil and oil filters
- cooler, brake and clutch fluids
- batteries and accumulators
- paint, glue and lacquer
- aerosols, i.e. pressurised cans
- pesticides and toxic substances
- fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lamps
- medications and measuring instruments that contain mercury
See the hazardous waste reception points on the Kierrätys.fi website.
