Separate collection of biowaste

As of 1.9.2023, Loimi-Hämeen Jätehuolto will offer a collection service in all its joint property management associations in accordance with waste management regulations. Biowaste collection services are offered to properties located in built-up areas. In other regions, accession is possible on a case-by-case basis. The obligation to compost or separately collect biowaste containing food waste, which started on 19.7.2024, applies to a continuous urban area extending from the centre of Forssa to Jokioinen and Tammela, as well as to an urban area starting from the centre of Sastamala. In other areas, composting or separate collection of biowaste is voluntary.

By collecting or composting biowaste separately, you can apply for an extension of the emptying interval for your mixed waste container. This will also reduce your mixed waste bill. The emptying interval can be up to 12 weeks. The extended emptying interval can be applied for on the Waste Board’s website.

The transport of mixed waste is handled throughout the operating area with separate agreements by private service providers, so it is not possible to carry out biocollection organised by Loimi-Hämeen Jätehuolto with the same waste truck as mixed waste collection.
