Basic charge
The basic charge is based on the waste tariff order (Waste tariff) approved by the Waste Committee and is based on the Waste Act (Waste Act, chapter 9, section 78(3)). The basic charge is collected once a year from every permanent and free-time residents located in the LHJ´s operating area. The charge is based on the number of housing units on the property and whether or not the property has permanent residents. The charge covers the common and equal basic waste management services based on the Waste Act, including:
- reception of hazardous waste from households and farms free of charge
- Counselling and environmental education for households, daycare centres, schools, associations free of charge
- maintenance of waste stations and recycling points
- the Waste Committee’s work and development of waste management
Basic charge for waste management 2025 (incl. 25,5% VAT)
Permanent residency 35,50 € /year
Permanent residency with at least five housing units 31,50 € / housing unit / year
Free-time residency 23,00 € /year
From January 1, 2024, paper invoices also include a 2 euro billing fee. You can avoid the invoicing fee by using an e-invoice. You can order an e-invoice using the information from the previous invoice. If the invoice is no longer stored, you can request a copy of the invoice from our customer service.

When contacting us, let us know the address of the property in question and the possible customer and/or invoice number.
Complaints against the waste charge: The complaint time is 14 days of receiving the waste invoice. Any complaints must be submitted in writing to the Waste Committee of the local government co-management area: City of Forssa, Waste Committee, P.O. Box 62, 30101 FORSSA or jatelautakunta@forssa.fi.
Waste charges must be paid by the due date, regardless of whether the customer has appealed the charge.
The Waste Committee has rights to make exceptions of the waste tariffs and interruptions of waste transportations (upon application) in certain cases such as:
- The official sales of property
- Pending inheritance
- Long-term hospital or institutional care of the property owner
- Property is officially uninhabitable (statement from an external construction expert or other official documents are needed)
- Renovation of the property
- A temporary move or a long holiday trip
A low equipment level (e.g. no electricity) is not sufficient grounds for adjusting down the waste charge.
