Collection and processing of mixed waste

Loimi-Hämeen Jätehuolto accepts mixed waste from households and takes care of waste management treatments. However, private companies are responsible for the waste transportation. Building owners or tenants order their own waste bin and emptying services from whichever transport company they choose. All permanent and free-time residencies must join organised waste transport (Waste Act 646/2011). We only organise supplementary collection of municipal waste on properties designated by the Waste Committee.

Emptying frequencies of mixed waste bins:

	summer (weeks 18–40)	winter (weeks 41–17)

Mixed waste in an urban area, one resident	4 weeks*	8 weeks*
Mixed waste in a countryside, one resident	8 weeks*	8 weeks*
Mixed waste if biodegradable waste is collected separately or composted	12 weeks**	12 weeks**

Emptying of bins in the summer takes place between May and September, starting from week 18 and ending week 40.

* = The property holder can agree on the matter directly with the waste carrier, but the Waste Committee of the City of Forssa must also be notified of the agreement.
